An Open Letter to Clients — Past and Potential

Hello friends,

For a while now, I’ve been holding this story quietly.

Some of you noticed when I stepped away from family photography. Others may have wondered. I want to share honestly why I closed my business and why I’m now reopening it.

When I stepped back, I told myself a simple story: I don’t want this anymore. But the truth was more complicated and more painful.

At the time, my health was unpredictable. My body felt like it was making decisions for me. And rather than sit with the grief of possibly needing to slow down something I deeply loved — or continue to disappoint people when I had to reschedule or cancel — I convinced myself it wasn’t love at all. It felt safer to believe I had outgrown it than to face the possibility that I might not be able to do it the way I once had.

But love doesn’t disappear just because we’re afraid.

Over time, as my health steadied and I listened more closely to myself, something became very clear: I never stopped loving storytelling. I never stopped loving families. I never stopped seeing moments everywhere…tiny, fleeting, meaningful moments that deserve to be remembered.

What has changed is how I see the work — or rather, how I am returning to my roots.

I’m returning with less interest in perfect smiles and posed expectations, and far more devotion to life in motion. The way your child leans into you without thinking. The chaos, the laughter, the quiet pauses. The real stuff. The kind of images and films that feel like you rather than a performance of you.

What I’ve always loved most about working with families is trust. Being invited into your ordinary, sacred moments. Helping you see the beauty that already exists in your life—exactly as it is.

So I’m reopening my family photography work with a softer lens, a steadier presence, and a deeper commitment to telling honest stories.

If you’ve worked with me before, you already know the experience I care about creating.
If you’re new here, I’d love to offer you that same kind of care.

If it feels right—if you’ve been waiting for a season like this—I’d be honored to tell your story.

With gratitude and heart,
Angela

Q: I still have a gift certificate. Can I use it?
A: You can of course still use it. I have kept track of all gift certificates, especially those who decided not to get a refund for “just in case” I came back. IT’S HAPPENING! Reach out to me and let’s talk about what your session could look like. (Paid, prize, or gifted to you — this applies.)
