A Different View
Let me tell you what I saw and why I took this photo from this angle — the back instead of the front.
First I saw flowers that are blooming “out of season,” as in, they have never bloomed this late before. Late bloomers, then. Beautiful regardless. Not too late. Right on time.
I saw a group of four standing guard in front of one that was not having her best day — queens protecting a queen. Togetherness. Closeness.
I saw love, friendship, help, and bonding over a warrior who was down.
I saw hurt being surrounded with protection.
Finally, I also saw how we protect our authentic selves by hiding behind a pretty and “perfect” exterior, even if what we need most is to be seen so we can ask for and accept help and love.
Now that I’ve shared all of that, maybe you see more than four blooming roses and one withered one.
Maybe you now see empathy, compassion, and protection.
Maybe you are the guard, or maybe you are the wounded one.
Maybe you are the “late bloomer” who is right on time.
Maybe you are the one who needs to be seen.
And maybe you just see the beauty, and that’s OK too.
